Solar Energy Facility, VIC

The North West Victoria Solar Energy Facility is a unique project that will produce the largest and most efficient solar photovoltaic power station of its kind in the world. When completed, the 154MW power station will provide enough electricity to meet the annual requirements of 450,000 homes and result in a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of 400,000 tonnes per annum. The project will cover an area of approximately 800 hectares, and works by concentrating solar energy with mirrors and converting it to electricity with high efficiency photovoltaic (PV) cells. Once the electricity is created, it is transferred into the national electricity grid, but with zero greenhouse gas emissions. SJB Planning is providing statutory and strategic planning services to Solar Systems Pty Ltd in the development of and approvals for the power station.
