Huskisson ForeshoreShoalhaven NSW Australia
SJB was appointed by Shoalhaven City Council to develop several master plan options on a site currently used as an informal carpark on the Huskisson Foreshore with the aim of strengthening and regenerating the town centre. The development of options were prepared with guidance from both Council and a specially formed Community Reference Group, who provided input into the emerging concepts - an integral part of the process.
Following a program of community and stakeholder consultation, held over a long weekend in late 2015, the preferred site plan consists of a large open space and a small amount of retail at the wharf’s edge in order to preserve views to Currambene Creek and Jervis Bay. A 2-3 storey mixed use courtyard development with one level of basement carpark is proposed on the adjoining site, along with upgrades to Currambene Street providing better and equitable access down to the wharf and improve connections to parks in the vicinity along the foreshore. A number of improvements to the public spaces, streetscape and key town centre sites were also captured in the final master plan.
