The Australian Venue Company engaged us to re-interpret the design of Kingsleys restaurant in line with their new brand identity. This client often develops a human persona for their venue identities and in the case of Kingsleys, they nominated the actor Liam Neeson to represent the restaurant.
We set about developing some ideas which we thought might evoke the qualities of Liam Neeson through the selection of a predominantly metallic and blue palette for the design of a tastefully conservative interior with an outdoor enduring quality to reflect our interpretation of the actor’s public persona.
We also acknowledged the direct connection to the water through the re-interpretation of nautical detailing such as the sail cloth stitching to dividing fabric screens, embracing low ceilings with ribbed timber panelling and narrow blue stained timber floor boards to mimic boating construction and the selection of Le Corbusier light fittings because of their utilitarian overtone.
