SJB Planning Melbourne Celebrates 30 Years

June 2020

This month, SJB Planning is celebrating a significant business milestone – 30 years as one of Melbourne’s premier urban planning practices. Managing Director, Amanda Ring, who has been with the firm since 1994, reflects on the milestone saying that the business “has come a long way from its humble beginnings in office space shared with SJB Architects.” We are very proud of our founders and the present team and equally proud of past SJBPers who have gone on to make valuable planning contributions in other organisations.

We would never have imagined that a global pandemic would muffle planned celebrations that would otherwise be taking place this year with enthusiasm and excitement. The Directors are naturally disappointed that the ability to celebrate with our team members, clients, colleagues, peers, family and friends needs to be left to another day (or year), but confident and reassured that SJB Planning is successfully navigating the significant challenges of past months buoyed by the motivation and irrepressible determination of our many valued clients, old and new, and the support of industry colleagues.

Like so many other businesses, we have adapted to the “new business normal”; embracing technology with renewed enthusiasm in the time of “working from home” and, very importantly, maintaining a sense of humour. As always, we continue to provide savvy strategic advice, problem-solving and negotiation services and remain prominent as a leading provider of expert planning witness services.

While the face of the team has changed in thirty years of practice, the commitment to assisting our various clients reach their goals, in the most efficient way possible, has not. And, so, we are confident that the tried and tested combination of experience and youth will serve us, our clients, and colleagues well into the future. Ever the optimist, the SJB Planning team is looking forward to enjoying many more years of success.
