Troy Borg announced as 2018 National President of the Student Organised Network for Architecture

November 2017

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Troy Borg as 2018 National President of the Student Organised Network for Architecture (SONA).

As the official student body of the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA), SONA represents architecture students from across Australia.  The organisation hosts national, state and local events that provide opportunities for design students to collaborate. It is also a leading facilitator of thought leadership, promoting a culture of shared ideas among its members, industry leaders and professionals.

Since Joining SJB in 2015 Troy has displayed an impressive ability to balance a rigorous working role, studies and volunteering with both the Australian Institute of Architects and now in his leadership role with SONA.

Currently in his third year at RMIT University, Bachelor of Architectural Design, Troy brings a background in tourism, hospitality and now architecture to his new position as National President. His previous involvement included his role as an Events Volunteer for the AIA, the RMIT SONA Representative for the AIA and the National Vice-President of SONA in 2017.

“Troy is a constant ambassador for equality, a patient mentor and true leader in all facets of his study and work life. He is proactive in bringing about ideas and initiatives that will enhance the architectural profession,” says SJB director, Tristan Wong.

Congratulations to Troy and we look forward to collaborating with the AIA and SONA in our continued focus on supporting and encouraging architectural students.
