Ballarat Station Precinct Master Plan

SJB Urban completed a Master Plan for the redevelopment of the Ballarat Station Precinct, which comprises the heritage Ballarat Station and associated heritage Goods Shed and Engine Shed, the bus interchange, the taxi drop-off, car parking and cycle facilities, in addition to adjacent transport and non-transport areas.

The purpose of the Master Plan was to guide urban improvements and outline development potentials for the Precinct, in the short, medium and longer term. The Master Plan also informs a business case for submission to State Government, for consideration to allocate development funding to the Precinct, to undertake further investigation and design development, toward the broader program of urban renewal within Ballarat’s CBD.

The Master Plan seeks to deliver: the integration of the Precinct within the Ballarat CBD through exemplary urban design; opportunities that will encourage private sector investment; a respectful, cohesive and celebratory response to the cultural and heritage significance of the site; improved operational functionality and transport amenity and efficiency to provide for future strategic growth; and a Precinct which is pedestrian focussed, vibrant and commercially successful.
