Holiday Inn Express HotelSydney Airport Mascot NSW Australia
Branded under the global Inter-Continental Hotels Group (IHG), Holiday Inn Express is a mid-level hotel chain offering smart and simple accommodation at a reasonable price point. The brand has seen tremendous growth worldwide, with over 2700 hotels and 270,000 rooms as at 30 June 2018.
Located at a busy intersection of Robey and O’Riordan Streets, the proposed hotel is well located within close proximity to Sydney Domestic Airport.
The new hotel comprises 9 storeys, including a 2 storey podium for above grade carparking and guest services, and 7 levels of accommodation above. Entry is off Sarah Street to the north, leading to a central guest lobby, and lifts to the Great Room on level 1.
Externally, the form of the building reflects the curving geometry of the south-eastern portion of the site, reinforced through a perforated rain screen cladding wrapping the corner. Podium levels are defined with strong horizontal bands, with infill vertical louvres providing natural ventilation for the carpark, and opportunities for windows.
Guest levels comprise a precast concrete facade system with staggered double height panels, providing articulation and modulation to the north and south facades.
