Melbourne’s famous resdient French chef, Jacques Reymond, and his family have fulfilled what they describe as a lifelong family dream with the opening of L’Hôtel Gitan, the French-inspired gastro pub on Commercial Road, Prahran. Marking the third time SJB have worked with Reymond, this time we created a French-inspired classic pub that references the Art Deco heritage of the building. The shape of the kitchen mimics the curved form of the exterior, a custom Deco pattern was designed for the tiles behind the bar and also for the carpet, and the glamour of the period is evident in the satin, brassy finishes and detailing. With the kitchen positioned in the centre of the space, the focus at L’Hôtel is very much on the theatre of food preparation. 

In 2017 L’Hotel Gitan received 'Best French Restaurant' at the Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Awards.
